About my work with young people

I wouldn't be a teenager in today's world for all the tea in China! In a wholly individualistic culture with no sense of community, the teenage struggle to realise personal identity has never been harder. Moreover, they are are the marketing man's dream, but how revolting to realise that adults prey on the insecurities of these precious and vulnerable people for profit! We teach them to value all things in material terms, and then wonder why they fail to develop integrity.

I feel strongly about this situation (if you couldn't tell!) and I hope to make a difference in today's youth culture. My faith teaches the value of individuals for who they are, not how many toys they have. This Biblical teaching is hugely relevant to today, but too often our churches are not. I try to bridge that gap, by helping young people between 14 and 21 tackle some of the 'meaning of life' questions that occasionally plague us all.

The majority of work I do is in support of local churches, such as running a weekly home group for teenagers. In addition I work with Soul Survivor's detached youth ministry team each summer. I'm usually present on a couple of Venture holidays a year, as well as organising groups to Spring Harvest.
